A superb new entertainment venue recently opened at Pointe Orlando on International Drive. The 45,000 square foot Main Event is an eclectic mix of a mega sportsbar with a modern day bowling alley. It features the very best in virtual and interactive game play, a daunting high ropes adventure course and of course, 61 big screen TVs to gawp at while devouring some great food all under one roof.
The Main Event essentially re-defines the word entertainment with its easy to navigate open floor plan that effortlessly eases you from one section to another. As you enter the main entrance you look one way and the other several times before deciding whether you’d prefer the virtual and interactive game area or the food and bar! It’s a tough choice.
If you turn to your left you’ll find over 100 virtual and interactive games, including numerous racing games, Skee Ball, Monopoly, Fruit Ninja, air hockey, basketball and a crazy fun giant Pac Man game. You can earn points as well as some cool prizes on many games inside the Games Gallery.
If you turn to your right you’ll immediately see the bar and restaurant areas. Look a little further and you’ll encounter the plush billiards area and shuffleboard.
In each section you will find a state of the art bowling area and be warned, this is not your average bowling experience… it’s so much more than that. Bowling at Main Event features 20 ice white lanes with multicolored LED lighting, a state-of-the-art electronic scoring system, surround entertainment system, music videos on HD screens and black and ambient lighting that creates a real party vibe.
Every lane also has its own seating area where you can eat, drink, relax or just sit back and enjoy the action.
For those needing an adrenaline rush there is the Gravity Ropes course or the first ever free roam, multi player virtual reality game in V Play Virtual reality. The Gravity Ropes course is the place to hook into a zip line and test your balance skills as you traverse a series of rope bridges, tight ropes and planks designed to test your skill, agility and precision while suspended high above the Games Gallery. It’s fun but it can be a daunting experience if you’re not used to heights!
In V Play Virtual reality you have a chance to experience how the digital and real worlds mesh together. It’s an immersive experience as you strap on headsets and headphones that you can’t find elsewhere as you and your team of six take on the zombie world to restore order.
If you chose to do all this first, now might be the time to check out the food and drink. There is a secret, however, and you might be advised to dine first as Main Event has a really neat trick up it’s sleeve. It’s called “Eat and play for free!” If you buy an entree you get a $10 Funcard to enjoy the games and if you purchase two or three entrees you get higher $20 or $30 funcards! It’s a fabulous way to reward guests who just love to eat!
You might think that the food would be substandard with a deal like that but not a bit of it. It’s all really tasty and delicious.
The “Eat.Bowl.Play” experience features a chef-inspired menu featuring innovative American fare and handcrafted cocktails in a high-energy bar and grill atmosphere. There is also a signature-style artisan pizza at LaBella’s for those who prefer a casual café environment. Main Event also offers full-service catering with private rooms, free Wi-Fi and the latest audiovisual technology for private events such as holiday parties, company meetings, birthday parties, and social gatherings. For those wishing to host birthday parties here, and you should, the venue also provides locker space so personal items, as well as gifts and presents, can be safely stored away while everyone is enjoying the fun!
Main Event’s Orlando venue is the company’s 30th nationwide but the first in Florida. Each center hosts FUNleagues, fun, non-competitive, eight-week bowling leagues during the winter, spring and fall. Sunday through Thursday are FUNleague nights and feature food and beverage specials, themed nights and prize giveaways. During the summer, Main Event offers Summer FUNcamps for kids ages 8-15 featuring laser tag battles, bowling fundamentals and game play.
Main Event is a great place to visit while in Orlando and it is situated on the lower level at Pointe Orlando close to Regal Cinema. It’s a whole lot of fun and the hours will simply ebb away while you’re inside! Make sure you check it out.
