Orlando City’s 1st Celebrity Golf Tournament
Orlando City Soccer Club held their first ever golf tournament yesterday and 27 groups consisting of 133 players took part to help the Orlando City Soccer Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to fulfilling the charitable objectives of Orlando City SC by providing outreach programs, services and initiatives for individuals and organizations in need.
Orlando City SC President Phil Rawlins, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath and several Orlando City players teed off at the Grand Cypress Golf Club at 8.00am yesterday morning. Joining them were other local celebrities including Larry Ridley (WESH 2), Jeff Day (CF News 13), Dirty Jim (104.1), Daniel Dennis (OC Soccercast), Christian Bruey (WFTV), Joe Kepner (WFTV), and Jeff Radcliffe (Brighthouse Sports Network).
“The golf tournament should be an enjoyable and fun event,” said Orlando City Foundation Chair Kay Rawlins (pictured above.) “The funds raised will go toward the Orlando City Soccer Foundation and will be used in our work to help combat the childhood obesity problem in Central Florida kids.”
The inaugural winning group was the one with City forward Dennis Chin (pictured above) who shot a combined group score of 52 in the shotgun start best ball contest. Coming in second with a score of 53 was the group led by Dr. Dorsey and third place was PGA Tour professional Rich Beem’s group with a 55.
