4th July Celebrated in Central Florida
A grand 4th July Independence Day celebration was held last night in Celebration, Florida. A wonderful evening started at 5.30pm when DJ Tami opened affairs before Jordyn Kane (photographed below left singing with two young fans) hit the stage. Aged 17, she has been singing all over Orlando and Los Angeles for the past 7 years and her claim to fame is that she made it to Hollywood on the 2012 season of American Idol and had her song “Terrified” featured on the ABC Family hit, The Lying Game.
After Jordyn came the superb Oliver’s Queen (pictured above right) who performed three times during the evening. The band gave a rendition of many popular songs that can stir a crowd’s emotions and last night was no exception. The crowd was also stirred by a special salute to veterans featuring The Seeds and a solo national anthem rendition from Gina Marie Incandela. Before the veterans salute came a highly amusing Sci-Fi costume contest in which some 30 contestants turned out in all kinds of costumes. It was the first time that the organizers at Celebration had joined forces with MegaCon, the southeast’s largest comic book, science fiction/fantasy, anime, gaming, toys multi-media event held every year at Orlando Convention Center.
One reason the 4th July celebration is so popular in Celebration and why people arrive many hours before the event starts is the superb firework show that last around 30 minutes. This year was another magical show as thousands of people lined the main lake in Celebration to watch in awe as fireworks blasted the night sky and painted it with a highly colorful display.
Oliver’s Queen then rounded the night off before the crowds went home after enjoying a wonderful evening.
