Dr Phillips School of Arts Class Preview

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts School of Arts will preview classes for the January 5, 2015 inaugural spring semester.  The class preview event takes place on December 9, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the School of Arts Tupperware Brands Corp. Lobby at The Dr. Phillips Center located at 155 W. Anderson Street, Orlando, FL 32801.  Registration for the spring semester is available and students can register for classes and view a complete listing of classes at drphillipscenter.org/arts-education or call the School of Arts at 407.455.5551. Registration by December 17 is encouraged to ensure placement. Any student that signs up from December 9 through December 17 will receive a Tupperware Brands water bottle on their first day of class.

A preview of the variety of classes offered include: Beginning Jazz Dance (Ages 9 – 18) with Instructor Tara McGugin; Vocal Performance (Ages 13 – Adult) with Instructor Priscilla Bagley; Yamaha Junior Music (Ages 4-5); Yamaha Young Musicians (Ages 6-8) with Yamaha Music Instructor Sarah Tellier; and Stretch (Ages 16 – 103) with Instructor Salem Murphy.

The School of Arts is built on the foundation that participation in the arts builds self-esteem, integrates and enhances other education while building communication skills such as speaking, interacting, listening, and interpreting. The arts promote problem solving and teach students to work together to achieve a common goal. School of Arts innovative programs inspire and engage students from ages 3 to 103.  A variety of classes start with dance for all levels of jazz, contemporary, Hip-Hop, African dance, tap, and lyrical.  Adults can enhance their wellness with yoga, stretch or Zumba. Music classes range from the acclaimed Yamaha Music School for piano to vocal performance, guitar, theory, flute, violin, cello, trumpet, African drumming and even ukulele. Theater students have options like drama, theater games, improvisation, acting for the stage or screen, magic, and musical theater. For the little ones all the disciplines are available from creative movement to instruments to dance and fairytale acting.
