Fun Spot America Set For Grand ReOpening This Saturday 8th June 2013!
Fun Spot America’s Grand Re-Opening is planned for this Saturday, June 8th from 8:30 am until Noon. It’ll be a great day for everyone who loves Fun Spot Amusement Park as the final work has now been completed on their $25 million dollar expansion that saw the park triple in size. Building work started in September 2012 and the initial five acre site now measures some fifteen acres of jam packed fun for all the family.
Some special guests are expected at Fun Spot’s location just off International Drive on Fun Spot Way as Congressman Webster and other local officials and celebrities are expected for the jubilant ribbon cutting. In addition to the Grand re-opening Fun Spot is also celebrating it’s 15th Birthday and the party will include lots of free entertainment, food and prizes being given out.
Among the highlights of the new park are two brand new roller coasters. A steel suspension coaster and a wooden roller coaster are part of three new thrill rides, a new food court, new ticket booth and additional parking and restrooms. Central to the park is an amazing 250 foot SkyCoaster ride which really is a combination of sky diving and hang-gliding.
“When I started Fun’n Wheels on I-Drive in 1978, I never expected I would be having a 15 acre park with roller coasters, just up the street,” said John Arie, Sr, Fun Spot’s Owner and CEO. “But I knew that roller coasters would take our parks to a new level. We now have two great coasters, both built in America. On the wooden coaster you get great “air-time’ and its so smooth while the steel coaster leaves your feet dangling and you soar over people’s heads as they walk through the park. It’s cool.”
Admission and parking is always free at Fun Spot and you then have a choice of paying per ride or paying for an all-day armband. “We provide people with a great alternative, both the tourists and the locals,” said Arie, Sr. “You can come for a ride, or a couple of hours or all day. People are looking for those options, and for value.”

In November 2012, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) named Fun Spot America the Best Family Entertainment center in the USA.
