Team Lake Nona, the host club, found itself in unfamiliar territory after Day 1 of the Tavistock Cup after finishing in last place but they took day two by the scruff of the neck and scored an astounding come from behind win to take the honors yet again.
It was an unlikely win as the team found itself in second place behind Team Queenwood halfway through Day 2 before eventually storming ahead to clinch victory, led by Retief Goosen and Ross Fisher, who each shot 5-under on the day. No one on Team Lake Nona shot worse than 1-under and it was their up-and-down quality play that gave them the win at an astounding 41-under par.
Team Isleworth, led by Robert Allenby’s 5-under, finished second at 39-under, while Team Queenwood finished third at 31-under, who also saw Thomas Bjorn score the same 5-under and it was Ernie Els who the top scorer for Team Albany and there’s no surprise here… he scored 5-under!
