Orlando City fall 2-0 to Toronto
In front of a reported 22,377 attendance, Orlando City put in a poor low energy performance to lose 2-0 to Toronto FC on Saturday afternoon at Orlando City Stadium.
Second-half goals from Jonathan Osorio and Jay Chapman gave the visitors an easy 3 points. Osorio gave Toronto the lead in the 65th minute, dribbling past Lamine Sane and cutting back to evade Oriol Rosell before curling home a right-footer into the side netting.
Chapman made it 2-0 in the 77th minute, bringing down Alejandro Pozuelo’s pass with an outstretched leg and finishing between goalkeeper Brian Rowe’s legs from a narrow angle.
“I think, obviously, not what we were hoping for” said Orlando Head Coach James O’Connor after the game. “I think first half we seemed to do a decent enough job of limiting them, they probably had a little more possession than us but I think as regard to clear cut chances, they didn’t really have a whole lot in the first half. I think our expectation was the second half to have something similar where we can go and create some chances.”
Orlando City’s next game will be on Sunday, May 12 when they visit Atlanta United in a nationally televised match at 2.30pm EST. Following the contest with Atlanta, the Lions will head out west for a midweek match against Seattle Sounders on Wednesday, May 15. That game kicks off at 10.30pm EST.
