Never a club to do things by halves, Orlando City Soccer Club unveiled the team’s away jersey for its inaugural 2015 season this evening as part of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Jersey Week.
Most clubs hold a simple event to show off their new team jersey but this is Orlando and this is Orlando City Lions. The smart looking white and purple kits were released during a glamorous fashion show held by the Orlando City Foundation’s annual Soccer and the City event.
As part of the launch, the kits were modeled by Orlando City players Kaká, Aurélien Collin, Brek Shea, Bryan Róchez and Cyle Larin.
“The white and purple kits look fantastic, and we hope our fans are as excited as we are to wear them around the city,” said Orlando City Founder and President Phil Rawlins.
The words “Forever our City” are sublimated along the neckline of the away kit – paying homage to The Ruckus, one of Orlando’s recognized Supporter Clubs. City’s other official supporter club, the Iron Lion Firm, is recognized in the Lions’ home jersey – with the phrase “This is Orlando.”
Similar to City’s purple kit, the new away outfit obtains the following features:
The 2015 Major League Soccer season kicks off at the Orlando Citrus Bowl as the Lions host New York City FC on March 8, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
