Orlando City Soccer welcomes new Head Coach Óscar Pareja to the club
Óscar Pareja was revealed to the media at a press conference at Expedia Stadium earlier today. The new Head Coach takes over from James O’Connor and made a favorable impression on those in attendance with the thoughtful and passionate way he spoke about the club and the game in general.
Pareja previously enjoyed success in MLS with FC Dallas after being appointed their Head Coach on 14th January 2014. The Colombian led the club into the playoffs in both of his first two seasons as head coach and in 2015, Dallas became the regular season Western Conference champions and runners-up for the Supporters’ Shield. The following year the club won both the Supporters Shield and the U.S. Open Cup.
Pareja stepped down as manager of The Hoops on 16 November 2018 after a combined 18 years with the club as a player, coach, and manager. Club Tijuana of Liga MX announced Pareja as their new manager on 27 November 2018 and just over a year later he now becomes the 4th Head Coach in Orlando City Soccer Club’s history.
“Óscar is the perfect fit for the Orlando City organization, something I can say with confidence from our history of working together,” Orlando City SC EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi said. “He possesses the talent and passion to help our Club reach both its short term goals on the field and long-term plans for the organization. Óscar checked all the boxes we were looking to fill and his vision is aligned with the plans that we have as a Club – to invest in and develop players at all levels of our pyramid to be both proud and successful when wearing the Orlando City crest.”
