The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra presents Gaetano Donizetti’s romantic comic opera The Elixir of Love, the second in the Opera Series on February 2, 3, and 5. The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Eric Jacobsen and Stage Director Mary Birnbaum, along with a stellar cast, presents Donizetti’s opera, sung in Italian with English supertitles in a surprising concert version designed for The Plaza Live stage.
Celebrate an early Valentine’s Day with Gaetano Donizetti’s romantic comedy L’elisir d’amore. The hopeless romantic Nemorino purchases a love potion from a traveling salesman to get the brilliant Adina to fall in love with him before she marries the soldier Belcore. Will the potion work? Does true love conquer all? Bring your sweetheart and find out!
“The Elixir of Love is one of the sexiest, funniest and most ridiculous operas,” said music director Eric Jacobsen. “Not only is there a love triangle (in which its hard to decide which male character is more oblivious to reality), but there is also deception, hilarity, drinking games, and some of the greatest Italian music. Whatever your elixir of choice, Donizetti’s Elixir of Love with cast a spell over you!”
