Orlando Ready For Missouri vs Minnesota Match Up at Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl
Sport is certainly on the rise in Central Florida as the newly renovated Citrus Bowl plays host to 17th ranked Missouri and 25th ranked Minnesota on New Years Day in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.
A couple of days ago the venue housed 40,000 fans as Clemson defeated Oklahoma 40-6 in a one sided Russell Athletic Bowl affair.
More fans are expected to pack the 65,000 seater stadium on Thursday for the 1pm start and they will be hoping for a closer match up to entertain them.
Minnesota Golden Gophers will be playing a bowl game in January in Florida for the first time and you have to go back a long time for their last appearance in a January bowl game. They’ll be hoping for a similar result to the 1962 game when they beat UCLA 21-3 on January 1, in the Rose Bowl.
The Mizzou Tigers are returning to a New Year’s Day bowl game for the second-straight season, as reward for their outstanding 10-3 season which saw them win the program’s second consecutive Southeastern Conference Eastern Division Championship, thanks to a 7-1 league mark.
Minnesota is 3-4-1 all-time against Missouri, but has not faced the Tigers since 1970. The Gophers posted wins in 1943, 1944 and 1945, while they lost to the Tigers in 1961, 1965, 1966 and 1970. Minnesota and Missouri played in a 0-0 tie to begin the 1962 season.
