Orlando’s Kaká Called Up to Brazilian National Team

Orlando City Soccer Club’s first Major League Soccer (MLS) Designated Player Ricardo Kaká will join the Brazilian National Team for a pair of upcoming friendlies. Brazil will play its longtime rival Argentina in Beijing on October 11, 2014, before traveling to Singapore to face Japan on October 14, 2014.

A Brazilian National Team veteran, Kaká has represented his native country in three FIFA World Cups – 2002, 2006 and 2010 – winning a FIFA World Cup title in 2002 and two Confederation Cup titles in 2005 and 2009. Since beginning his professional career in 2001, the midfielder has accumulated 87 caps for Brazil’s senior team, scoring 29 goals. The last time Kaká represented Brazil was in a friendly match against Russia on March 25, 2013.

Kaká is currently on loan with the Club that he began his professional career with – São Paulo FC (SPFC). The midfielder’s loan spell with SPFC will end prior to the start of the 2015 MLS season. Kaká is the first MLS signed player to obtain a FIFA World Player of the Year award in 15 years, since German midfielder Lothan Matthäus (NY Metro Stars) in 2000.
