Osceola County Opens Steffee Landing at Shingle Creek Regional Park
Earlier today Osceola County opened Steffee Landing at Shingle Creek Regional Park in Kissimmee.
The new facility sees new amenities added to Shingle Creek Regional Park as there is now a fishing pier as well as the opportunity for visitors to rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and bikes at the Paddling Center.
Steffee Landing is the latest addition to the facilities at Shingle Creek and is a great place to visit while in Osceola County as it offers a unique blend of nature and history in a setting quietly hidden within the surrounding urban area.
Shingle Creek Regional Park in total has around 456 acres of which approximately 200 acres are accessible to the public. The park can be reached from two main areas. The first is at Steffee Landing located at 4266 W. Vine Street, otherwise known as US192, just a few yards from Marker 15, while the other entrance is at 2491 Babb Road in Kissimmee. Visitors can also visit Osceola County’s Welcome Center and History Museum, that opened in October 2012, from Steffee Landing by following a path under US 192.
The park allows visitors to experience some vivid encounters with a wild and vanishing Florida. Bald eagles, wild turkey, great blue heron, yellow-bellied slider turtles, white-tailed deer and river otters are some of the animals that can be spotted in the area. The whole area gives visitors a nice change of pace from the world renowned theme parks located just minutes away. We hope you’ll take time to visit the real Florida!
